Golf School Up & Down

Oktoberfest - Vale de Milho

The traditional Oktoberfesten in German Bavaria inspired us to organise one of our themed competitions. During the last weekend of the real festival our golf game took place on Sunday October 2nd. It was a Tankard Game, in which the experienced golfer recognises the Joker Game. All more than 20 golfers got 6 (imaginary) tankards. With such a Tankard they could double their Stablefordscore on a hole of their choice.

Next competition :
St. Andrews Day
Wednesday November 30th 2011

But .... if there was no score, a minus 2 had to be written down, so penalty! All tankards had to be used. A bit uncomfortable with the tankard idea everybody started, but after a few holes the tankard were used fanatically. The beautiful Summer weather made thirsty and fortunately on the tee of hole 10 real German refreshments were served. For the first time we used a gunshot start and therefore all players came back in the club house at the same time. There the emptying of the real tankards started. A nutritious German lunch provided a firm base herefore and tasted deliciously.

The recalculation of the cards with the multipliers took some time, but just before lunch we succeed anyway. And the winners, who never scored minus two, had used their multipliers well :

Chris Bowmer 54 points Mal Chessman 50 points
2nd prize Adri Buur 53 points Ria Buur 43 points
3rd prize Wim Lieftink 47 points Christine Thomas 42 points
